Leader Biomedical is in the process of developing a range of collagen-based products for the haemostat segment.

Manufactured from bovine collagen drawn from closely-controlled herds, our collagen fleeces may be used in a wide range of surgical procedures where immediate haemostasis is desired.
The collagen fleece is completely resorbable, sterilised by eCOO® Ster technology, and impregnated with gentamicin to provide prophylactic anti-microbial protection.

Wound Repair

Leader Biomedical is currently developing a range of products to support the wound repair segment.

Collagen Dermis

Currently in an early stage of development, our collagen dermis will benefit from eCOO®Technology-based processing. The mild processing steps and subsequent sterilisation will result in a safe and strong dermis optimally retaining the (micro) structure, important for fibroblast recruitment and eventual repair of the damaged tissue. The dermis will be storable at room temperature and free of any containment liquids, eliminating the need for time-consuming rinsing prior to use.


Postoperative adhesion formation is a severe consequence of abdominal surgery. Infertility, chronic pain, intestinal obstruction, and even morbidity have been linked to this post-operative side-effect. In order to prevent adhesion of various lumina and cavita in the body, several anti-adhesive methods have been developed based on various material properties with limited success.


Made from ultra-pure alginate, Rebasol® is an anti-adhesive gel used to prevent postoperative adhesion. The muco-adherent properties of the gel allow it to remain in place even in gravitationally dependent areas and easily to apply in both laparotomy and laparoscopy procedures.
Extensive testing has furthermore shown that, unlike other anti-adhesive gels, Rebasol® does not impair colon anastomotic strength, making it an ideal choice for abdominal surgery.


Currently under development at Leader Biomedical, NovoMem is an acellular, resorbable collagen membrane. This membrane is produced from porcine pericardium and processed with our proprietary eCOO® Clean process, which uses supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) to clean human and animal derived bone and soft tissue. NovoMem is designed to function as a cell occlusive barrier membrane for dental applications. The membrane is intended for use during guided bone regeneration (GBR) and guided tissue regeneration (GTR) procedures as a biodegradable barrier for:

  • Simultaneous use with implants
  • Augmentation around implants placed in immediate extraction sockets
  • Augmentation around implants placed in delayed extraction sockets
  • Localised ridge augmentation for later implantation
  • Alveolar ridge reconstruction for prosthetic treatment
  • Filling of bone defects after root resection, cystectomy, removal of retained teeth
  • Guided bone regeneration in dehiscence defects
  • Guided tissue regeneration in periodontal defects

We expect to launch this product in the US market by end of 2018.
