About Adhesions
Adhesions are fibrotic bands of tissues that connect planes not normally connected and that influence anatomic structures that would otherwise move freely in their tissue planes.
A serious and frequent complication of surgical interventions, adhesions develop during the first three to five days, and can require additional surgery and hospitalisation
Research shows a significant correlation between the presence of scar tissue and unfavourable clinical outcome in terms of increased activity-related pain and recurrent radicular pain after six months.
In lumbar spine surgery, adhesions may lead to recurrent back pain and/or leg pain and associated physical impairment of the patient requiring re-operation, or failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)
Adcon Gel Application
Adcon Gel is applied directly after surgery and before closure of the wound; ensuring that Adcon Gel surrounds the nerve root, dura and the ligaments minimising adhesion formation.

Adcon Gel prevents adhesions and is indicated for discectomy, laminotomy and laminectomy surgery.
Adcon Gel improves patient rehabilitation, reduces recurrent pain, and decreases number of re-operations as a result of such adhesions (Failed Back Surgery Syndrome or FBSS).
